| Fermanagh House This house is set in an idylic location in rural Northern Ireland. The site is at the edge of Upper Lough Erne a protected area of Special Scientific Interest (SSI) and with all new housing in moritorium the brief was a challenging one. The house is arranged with 2 childrens bedrooms, study, large utility/boot room and guest bedroom on the East. With the main living spaces and masterbedroom set on the West with views over the Lough. A 19m long corridor both connects ther two parts of the house and is a usable space itself. One side of the corridor contains a wall of 21 doors with storage and bedroom access. The idea is that the corridor will be the dressing room, reading room and shared play space for the families young children. The West facing main rooms are timber framed with large west facing glass and external covered space to both protect against weather and shield the glazing from the summer sun. The house is an eco house with very high levels of insulation, solar panels, a wood pellet stove heating system and locally sourced materials. The house received planning permission in September 2011. |
