| Scotstoun Extension The Scotstoun Conservation area in Glasgow covers a number of city blocks filled with variations of late Victorian terraces built to house the shipbuilders at the Scotstoun Yard (1861). This extension is to a house which forms a South West facing end of terrace. The clients, television scriptwriters, wanted to improve the tiny, low ceilinged kitchen, enlarge the living / dining space and make a direct connection from these spaces to the garden. The extension is relatively small but includes some major structural works; removing the back wall to the house and side kitchen. The kitchen is moved and a new dining / living space formed in front of the large fixed area of glazing. Level access to the garden is from the side with aysmetrical double doors. The old kitchen is reduced in size and a new shower room with laundry formed. At the bottom of the garden the existing garage is to be replaced by a new writing studio which can double as guest room. |
